The Fanwood Borough Council recognized the College Club as part of its Women’s History Month observance at the March 2026 Council meeting.
Joan Skubish, president; Trish Isack, scholarship chair, and Dorothy Lusk, vice president, of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains College Women’s Club, represented the Club. Councilwoman Trisha Walsh read the proclamation.
Skubish said the club is starting its 93rd year. She said the club was founded in 1933 with the hope of giving women financial assistance for college. Isack said the club’s goal is to “empower women in our community through education and scholarship.” Since the club’s first scholarship of $200 was awarded in 1936, over $844,000 has been awarded in scholarship money to 605 students. She said the club awarded $32,500 last year to 13 recipients, which included three Fanwood residents.
