Joan Skubish receives Good Scout award

We congratulate Joan Skubish for receiving the Good Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America – Patriot’s Path Council for her volunteer spirit and dedication to many organizations besides the College Club. Joan was recognized on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 at a dinner reception at The Westwood in Gardwood. We are proud of Joan and grateful for her legacy with the College Club passed onto Joan by her mother who years ago was a member of College Club and chaired the Scholarship Committee. Joan said it best, “An educated woman makes a better world for us all.” Being a member of the College Club makes our community better for ourselves and others!

In addition to her involvement with the College Club, she is chair of the Fanwood Historic Preservation Commission. In 2016 she was recognized by the Fanwood Borough Council and Mayor Colleen Mahr as Volunteer of the Month for her her many contributions (photo below).

Scubish was honored as the borough’s volunteer-of-the-month at the meeting for her work in historic preservation in the borough and her guidance of the Fanwood Museum’s program for grade school kids. The museum is located at the old train station which made the print more meaningful for Skubish, she said. (Photo by Brian Horton)
